Digital animated touchpoints to promote a Brisbane History Exhibit.
OVERVIEW
This was my final assignment in a Motion Design unit I completed as apart of my degree. This course was my first foray into animation and After Effects and provided a great foundation of knowledge I'd take later into my career.
MY ROLE
My focus was on creating two unique touchpoints that would be theoretically used to promote an ambitious but fictional Brisbane History Exhibit. These two touchpoints came to be a one-minute promotional video accompanied by three sets of animated moving posters to be hopefully used either as digital signage or on social media.

The Challenge

The Research
Before beginning the research phase, I had developed a distinct aesthetic vision for this project. To better visualize these concepts, I created a moodboard and an initial styleframe. Given the project's focus on Brisbane's history, historical images from the Queensland State Archive's Flickr profile (available in the public domain) became central to the aesthetic.

Rather than relying solely on static photographs for my two touchpoints, I planned to animate these images through cinemagraphs and animated collages. My approach drew inspiration from Vox, the American news media organization whose YouTube channel effectively combines historical media with animated elements created in After Effects. While Vox's style influenced my initial direction, this research phase aimed to expand the visual language and better define my target audience.
